Task 6 - Review

Overall I feel that my project was successful in ways but was not so successful in other ways. For my task I was asked to research concept art and then produce my own concept art for a character that I had to create for an existing game.

I feel that I met my target audience with this project as the game is rated 17 but is also supposed to be a joke/fun game to play with friends. My character meets this criteria as I feel that he would fit perfectly in with the Borderlands series of games as this character would be both serious at time but would also have a sense of humour in situations where you wouldn't expect it.

One negative about my work is the lack of colour which makes it seem dull, boring and lifeless which is the complete opposite of what I actually wanted to achieve. I didn't add colour because I did not want to commit to using colours in case I didn't like them and this process would have been irreversible. Another negative is my time management as I would often only do work in school hours and not on my own time which is a mistake that I will have to learn from as it leaves me with little time and I would often find myself rushing certain pieces of work so they wouldn't be to the best of my ability.

For materials I used A3 sheets of thick paper with a 2H pencil and a 3B pencil. For my initial ideas I used the 2H pencil to roughly sketch out the heads for my characters and once I was happy with the shape I would just press slightly harder with the same pencil so I knew which area to work in, I continued this process for all my characters and weapons ideas. However for my final idea I used the 2H pencil to draw the outline for everything and once I thought that it looked good enough I finalized those lines with the 3B pencil which is darker and thicker compared to the other. To get rid of the faint lines I would have gently erased the lines and re-draw them with the 3B pencil.

I didn't use that many techniques when drawing besides the fact that I used tracing paper on my final drawing to mirror the characters eyebrows because when I kept trying to draw them separately they would look uneven or out of place which made the drawing look unprofessional
